Anna Beth Muck: A Lifesaver in the Making

Some people are born with a calling to help others. For Anna Beth Muck, though still only in college, that calling has been a lifelong journey, shaped by her family’s deep-rooted connection to healthcare, her hands-on experiences in emergency care, and her passion for global health. From working with animals on her family’s ranch to assisting with medical training programs in Moldova, Anna Beth’s story is one of service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.

A Legacy of Healing and Service

Anna Beth was raised in a family where healthcare isn’t just a profession but a way of life. As the niece of Shelley and Chad Lynch, founders of ACLS Academy in the greater Boston area, she grew up with a strong awareness of the importance of emergency care training. Her parents’ careers also shaped her perspective: her mother, a public health professional, chose to focus on family life, while her father, an emergency room physician, has spent years volunteering in global healthcare initiatives.

Surrounded by this influence, Anna Beth’s early exposure to medicine was hands-on. Growing up with cattle, horses, goats, and chickens, she learned to administer vaccines and medications, which sparked her interest in veterinary medicine. However, as her experiences and education evolved, she became increasingly drawn to human medicine—particularly emergency care and global health. Inspired by organizations like Doctors Without Borders, she saw a future where she could merge her love for science with her desire to serve people worldwide.

From Student to Instructor: ACLS Academy and the Next Generation Award

During a recent holiday visit to Boston, before the beginning of her spring semester at Texas A&M University, Anna Beth enrolled with ACLS Academy to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) training. But she didn’t stop at just learning these life-saving skills—she became certified to teach them.

Anna Beth is now preparing to train others in emergency response, ensuring more people have the knowledge and confidence to act in critical situations. Her hands-on training at ACLS Academy included simulated high-volume bleeding scenarios that prepared her for real-world emergencies. Recognizing her dedication to advancing life support education, ACLS Academy honored Anna Beth as the inaugural recipient of the Next Generation Leader Award—a testament to her leadership in the field.

Global Research and Medical Missions

Anna Beth’s passion for medicine extends far beyond the classroom. As a Biomedical Sciences major with a 4.0 GPA, she is committed to understanding the intersection of science and public health. Her curiosity led her to a semester abroad in Costa Rica, where she conducted a research project on the neurotoxic effects of pesticides on agricultural workers. She explored how pesticide exposure contributes to depression and suicidal ideation, analyzing scientific data, public perception, and media narratives. Her findings, compiled into a research paper, offered solutions to mitigate these serious health risks.

Her global health work didn’t stop there. Anna Beth interned with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, contributing to public health initiatives and attending the Annual World Health Assembly. She later accompanied her father to Moldova, where she helped train Community First Aid Responders (CFARs). This initiative provided emergency response education to local communities, equipping individuals with the skills to assess and stabilize patients until professional medical help arrived.

Leadership, Education, and Service

Beyond her academic and medical pursuits, Anna Beth has shown leadership in various capacities. She founded her piano studio, teaching over a dozen students. She has also been a worship team leader and active Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) member. This faith-based student organization has played an essential role in her college journey. Her dedication to service is evident through her involvement in medical mission trips to Guatemala and her volunteer work with the UT Health School of Medicine Refugee Clinic, where she assisted in providing free healthcare to displaced individuals.

A Future in Medicine – Bridging Passion and Purpose

As Anna Beth prepares for medical school, she plans to take a gap year working as a medical scribe. This role will allow her to gain real-world clinical experience by documenting patient encounters and shadowing physicians. This hands-on exposure will deepen her understanding of emergency medicine and help solidify her path toward a healthcare career.

Her experiences have shaped a powerful perspective: healthcare challenges are universal and require a collaborative, global effort. Whether working in a refugee clinic, training first responders, or researching pesticide exposure, Anna Beth sees herself as part of a larger mission to improve medical care worldwide.

More Than Medicine – A Champion on Horseback

Anna Beth can be found on horseback when she’s not studying, researching, or teaching emergency care. Her love for riding began at age 12, when she started riding her father’s roping horse—despite the occasional bucking off. That passion led her to Texas A&M’s Ranch Horse Team, where she competes in collegiate equestrian events, including ranch pleasure, reining, and working cow horse competitions.

Anna Beth has won numerous accolades, including the 2023 Collegiate Novice Individual Champion and Novice Reserve Overall Individual Champion at the SHTX Lubbock Show. Beyond competition, she helps manage the team’s barn and 15 horses, demonstrating her dedication to riding and the well-being of the animals she loves.

A Name to Watch in the Future of Medicine

Anna Beth Muck embodies the spirit of ACLS Academy—dedicated, service-driven, and committed to saving lives. Whether preparing students to respond to emergencies, conducting research on global health challenges, or competing on horseback, she approaches every endeavor with passion and purpose.

As she continues her journey toward medical school, Anna Beth Muck is poised to make a meaningful impact in medicine. With her unwavering dedication to healthcare, education, and service, she is well on her way to impacting the world—one life at a time.
