Courses for Instructors

Instructor courses are for AHA providers, and offer training so that the instructor will be proficient in teaching and demonstrating that discipline’s skills. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Heartsaver. You cannot become an instructor without a current course completion card in the specific discipline and a mastery of the subject matter. Students will need to complete the discipline-specific classroom instructor course and then be monitored while teaching their first course within six months of completing it.

How It Works

Step 1: Hold a current provider card and be an expert in the subject matter

Step 2: Complete the AHA online essentials course for the discipline

  • Register for BLS Instructor Essentials Course

  • Register for Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Course

  • Register for ACLS Instructor Essentials Course

  • Register for PALS Instructor Essentials Course

Step 3: Complete the didactic classroom course in the discipline at an ACLS Academy location.

Step 4: Be monitored teaching a class within 6 months of the instructor’s course.

The Courses

The didactic part of the courses is approximately 6-8.5 hours long *Class times vary

  • BLS Instructor Course: $300 

  • Heartsaver Instructor Course: $300

  • ACLS Instructor Course: $350

  • PALS Instructor Course: $350
