About ACLS Academy and Owners Shelley & Chad Lynch

An icon of blue waves that are shown on heart monitors.

In 2014 Shelley Lynch, DNP NP-BC APRN CCRN, was returning home from a business trip and witnessed a TSA worker collapse at Logan Airport. Shelley rushed to his aid and applied immediate lifesaving measures, which eventually allowed for a full recovery.

This incident was the catalyst of an idea for Shelley and her husband, Chad, to bring lifesaving skills to the general public by educating non-medical professionals on the importance of proper CPR & AED use and training them in how to perform these skills. The idea grew to provide education and training to medical professionals on cardiac-related skills for required certifications in a clean, safe, and welcoming training center.

Shelley, who was already an American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor and AHA Faculty, capitalized on her experience as a college professor, combined with 15 + years of experience as a bedside nurse and nurse practitioner to create a curriculum. Chad brought his 15 years of business operations insight, combined with his training in the United States Coast Guard, to help make the framework for the business.

For the first few years, they grew the business in their spare time, from the kitchen table, balancing full-time jobs, grad school, and raising three toddlers. ACLS Academy was established with an initial mission to provide a first-class education for providers, by providers. Chad and Shelley developed a network of instructors who felt the same passion to help educate their students. Once the curriculum, staffing, and business plan were synthesized, they found a convenient location and began offering regular classes. Since those initial course offerings, Shelley and Chad have recognized the need to educate beyond the healthcare provider's scope. ACLS Academy now provides courses for people outside of traditional clinical roles.

Today, ACLS Academy and its founders have grown and thrived. ACLS Academy/Lynch Medical Consulting now has three locations in Massachusetts and received its certification as an American Heart Association Aligned Training Center. American Heart Association (AHA) Training Centers are the most recognized and supported training collective in the United States because of the AHA's quality research and curriculum. Furthermore, AHA Training Centers are known for having the most consistent instructor quality and the best background in their courses. Additionally, Shelley Lynch is now Dr. Shelley Lynch after receiving her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Shelley and Chad are proud of establishing this small, family-run business, which started out providing education for their peers, neighbors, and friends. The company has grown to what it is now, one of the most prominent, respected, and thorough AHA Training Centers in the Boston area, training in the top hospitals in the country, community hospitals, and the general community. ACLS Academy provides the same level of attention, care, and patience for everyone, whether they are a local Boy Scout group in need of first aid training or a Boston hospital looking to recertify a team of specialized physicians. They couldn’t be prouder to be By Providers, for Providers.
